Hello all,
I thought I'd post this in here, as I'd rather not have this out on the public forums.
I will be in Vegas in March working a helicopter trade show.
I have a client who loves to ride "big dirt bikes"...BMW's, Ktm 650's etc. :yeehaw:
We would like to find a place where we can rent a couple of bikes and take them out for a day trip. Date for the ride would be Thursday, March 18th. Do any of you have any sources?
Recommended destinations?
Thanks for your help

Wolf, I just did this very thing about 3 weeks ago. I was in Vegas for a Sales Conference. Me and two other guys rented DRZ400S with a guide. We left out of Whiskey Pete's Casino. This is about 45 miles southwest of the vegas strip. Our ride started at 8:30 in the morning and we finished right at 5:00pm. We did 131 miles that day. Mostly two tracks through the desert. We went up over the clark mountain range, rode through the valleys, went through some big sand washes, accross a field of Joshua trees, over an old lava flow. The ride was broken up by a lunch stop. We did 61 miles and then rode into the town of Baker, CA for a hot lunch at the Mad Greek, then over the bridge on the interstate and then back another 60 miles.

It was fairly easy riding and kind of high speed, only a few technical parts. But, it was part trail ride and part sight seeing adventure. We stopped along the way to see things like the "old mojave road" and places where the indians had setteld.

All in all, it was a great day and a lot better than sitting at a crap or black jack table.
Our guide's name was Uwe, and he was a ton of fun to hang out with. He's been everywhere and ridden in places like africa and south america.

The fee for the day was $279 and you can find more info at: www.ADMO-Tours.com
Post here if you have questions.

Enjoy,
Tim

Wolf,

Tell him that I, Tim Roberts, recommended the ride. He'll remember me as the guy who went over the bars and knocked himself silly. I also managed to break a headlight shell and my front brake lever on the ride.

 Yeah, I had to Pony up a few more $$$ after the ride for the crash damage. The first time I went down, I don't know how it happened. I have no recelection of it. I think I lost the front end on a large rock in the middle of the trail and then endoed over the left front side. The bike came down on my left ankle. Nothing broken, on my body, but my visor of my helmet and the large crack in the headlight shell.

After that I had a bit of a head ache. The guide gave me a couple of Advils at the lunch stop and I felt like my old self on the afternoon portion of the ride. Then, later in the afternoon I lost it on a technical uphill and just dropped it on the right side, but it was hard enough to sheer off the front brake lever.

Fortunately, the guide had a spare in his back pack. You can't ride at 60+ miles per hour with no front brake.

Suprisingly the bikes were in pretty good shape for rentals. Mine had tires that were a little too worn for my liking, but riding over rocks in the desert doesn't require the same type of knobs that we are used to here in the east. My bike had Pro Taper handle bars, and an FMF Q exhaust system. A couple of the other bikes had new tires. All had large plastic desert tanks in place of the steel stock tanks, and all of the bikes had aftermarket wide IMS type foot pegs in place of the rubber pegs that are stock on the S model DRZ.

I have pictures and I can post them on Monday.
