Help!!! Need help with 01 RM250 2nd to 3rd shifts missed

The 01 tends to miss shifts ( it engages and holds for a sec then kicks out) Gears and forks in perfect shape. this is a fairly well known prob. 'Course y'all know it only does this rarely ...like when you most need it not to......!!


They stiffened the detent spring for 03 - 04 ......online micrifiche part looks identical ( likely used thicker wire).

Magazine tests all say no more missed shifts on 03 - 04 bikes.

So ......has anyone put the stiffer spring in an 01? Does it help?

Any engine builders out there know? Rich....Eric...?

how do you know gears are perfect?you split cases and checked?

Yes . I pulled everything apart. Measuerd the thickness of shifter forks , perpindicularity, etc.

Inspected the dogs for rounding.

It's pretty much known that this year had a habit of doing this.
