Above the power valve about 1 or 2cm of the chrome has started to come away.
1. Do i get the bore rechromed
2. or do i get the barrel resleved.
Which of these would be the best route to go down and how much would i be looking at.
if the plating has worn away, it needs to be replated.DO NOT sleeve the cylinder!trust me its not worth the added costs and the sleeve wont last anywhere near as long as a replated cylinder.plus when it needs a new top end,you have to have it bored and a oversize piston installed.with a plated cylinder,as long as the bore is not damaged put in a new piston and ring and your good to go.also there's nothing wrong with using sealer on gaskets to try and make them seal better.as long as they didnt try to fix any other prob with the sealer, i see no harm in using it.about 200 is what your looking at for a replate and sleeving the cylinder will run you close to that with labor and all tacked on.
