ok, i just got a 85 cr250 for cheep and it needed a new cylinder head gasket. when i received the gaskets, (i got the whole set) there was a tin like peice that was the same shape of the cylinder head gasket. but i dont know where it goes???? or if it goes on at all????

you only need 1 gasket. You probably got a kit that covers certain years, and in those years the hd gsk probably changed and they supplied more than 1 hd gsk.

Gas will eat gasket sealant. You shouldn't need it with a new gasket. Just oil it and torque the bolts to spec. Good luck!

He most likely means to apply a light coat of 2 stroke oil to the cylinder & piston, reassemble and torque.

Can't really see any reason to oil the head gasket.

Oil cylinder and piston on reassembly. Check for air leaks, or a lean condition will occur, and the piston could seize up.

Between the parts and the gasket surfaces. I.e. where the cylinder meets the cases and where the cylinder head meets the cylinder.

if there is moisture between the gasket and the cylinder head when i put it on would that make it leak coolent. coolent leaking into the jug would do what to the bike? could it make it not run as well???
