Lori, similar story here, we got a Border Collie, and he came home in a chewing gum box, the bubble gum was called Chappies, the squirrel mascot being named Chappie - which is what our little pooch became known as.
For a few cats we had we looked under c-a-t in the dictionary... named our first one Tastrophe (catastrophe), another Egory (category), and one of my favorites, Apult (catapult). A friend named her cat Kameer (come here).
When I was a little boy I had a black and white cat that looked like a skunk, his name was Scooter, off of a TV show I would watch. I also had a cat named Suzi. Another named Smokey, and then Tiger, and now I have a cat named Cooper. Oh yea, you could always name it Racer, like I did one of my puppies :)
