I'm looking to buy a newer bike. I just sold my 98 cr250. I loved it. Now I can't decide on which to buy, a new 2001 cr125 or a used 2001 cr250. The 125 is $4400 and the 250 is $4500. The 250 has pro action suspension front and rear, FMF pipe and silencer, skid plate, works connection radiator supports, IMS footpegs, and skin graphics. It is very clean looking. All it needs is a tire, and it is ready to go. everything is in excellent condition brakes, plastic, ect. After having a 250 would i be happy with a 125? i mostly trail ride and hill climb and maybe go to the track to practice. I won't be racing it. Everybody i ride with has big bikes. I weigh close to 200lbs with gear. The reason i'm asking is because I like the thought of a "NEW" bike. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Get the 250

From what you describe, sounds like the 250 is a better deal, can you test drive it? Then when you add the value of those mods, your weight, and the hill climbing, sounds like an easy choice, especially since you are already used to the 250. I've owned both new and used, the 'newness' wears off pretty quick, and you can end up either loving or hating a bike new or used. Hope the one you choose serves you well.

I would definately go with the 250, if it looks clean. I think the 125's are more work , if the trail riding is rough. You can lug the 250 more on the hills than the 125. I've ridden my buddies 125 on the trails and it just seems like you have to always keep the bike on the pipe, compared to my 250. You could probably get a new 2001 250 for under $ 5,000 + tax, if you can find a leftover. The used one has the extra goodies though.

BOUGHT THE 250

I thought alot about it and bought the 250. It is in new condition, no play on the kicker or the shifter, everything is very tight. Thanks for the help.
