Just saw this on another sight and haven't yet verified it. anybody have any info.

In 2004 all racers under age 18 must have waivers signed by BOTH parents per AMA insurance.

If this is true are one parent kids going to have to plead thier case every week?
We take along one of thekids friends each week and he lives with his mother. She has always notoraized the waiver (and a letter giving us temp guardianship) before we leave and then we sign at the race as guardians- will this still be possible?

In theory I can see the AMA doing this in another misguided step to CTA :| but make it even harder for kids to compete and be active in MX

its always been "recommended" but not a set in stone rule. I doubt it will ever be that way or at least "enforced"? Because it would be the fastest way to loose riders. On the minor stuff and that guardian deal we plan to do that again this season as far as I know it is still ok.

Oldguy.
If you saw all the lawsuits pending, you will see why they need to do this.
If a kid's parents are divorced and junior goes out and gets hurt, the first thing a parent will say is- I did not say that junior can go out and race.
That parent can sue you for taking their kid racing unknowingly.

The AMA has the best insurance plan for race promoters, they are just covering their bases.
