Dealer is willing to sell me a new 2002 KDX 220 for $3250.00 plus tax and lic. not set up fees etc. As he says.... "A smokin deal"
Anyone want to offer me encouragement ? Or other comments ?
Says only changes over last few years and the new 2004 is/will be graphics.
Help me out... anything I should consider or think about ?
Thanks

That sounds like a pretty good deal at least for my area in Rochester NY.
Best I found before buying a used 2001 kdx220 was $3400 on a new 2003 KDX200 - not a 220.

I was told by dealers that there would be no change for 2004 models except maybe the price.

Except for graphics no sig changes since 1998.

If you have the cash and desire - go for it.

I think that your dealer is offering you
a VERY good deal. When I bought my '02
200 at the beginning of the model year, I
was only able to get him down to $3600. I
still felt this was a pretty good deal as
another dealer told me their cost on the bike
was $3500. Considering that MSRP on the 220
is $4399, I would think that your dealer is
taking a hit on that bike just to make room
for some '04's.
As far as getting a leftover bike, everyone on
this site will tell you that the 200/220 line
has remained unchanged for the last few years.
This means that the only difference between your
'02 and an '03 or '04 are the graphics, gas tank
and frame colors. I say buy it!

Hey, they're not just graphics, they're BOLD NEW GRAPHICS.
I think they say the same thing every year.
FWIW: I have a '01 220, like it very much. However; if I recall correctly if you're gonna it bored or ported, the 200 has more potential...something to do with more meat to work with and the carb is already larger. Plenty of info to be found with the search button.
Just something to consider if you have the choice between the two. If you don't have the choice, remember you still have a good deal on a very good bike.
Good luck, DVO

Thaks for the comments. I decided to purchase and now it is in my garage. Have found this site to be most informative and useful. Glad I found it and the deal ended up....$3500 and change out the door. Admit it does not have the "new graphics" but it does have a new rider. First little ride was a joy. Forgot how nice a 2 stroke feels and how nice it is to not fight the size/weight of my ATK 605.
