***SKY POWERSPORTS*** That is the name of the great RIP-OFF DEALER. They have two branches, one in Lakeland Florida, and one in another nearby town.
I am not real worried about re-sale since I will be trail riding the bike as opposed to racing, and I can keep the bike a lot longer. I have seen NEW leftovers advertised for the same price as a used one from the same year, which one would you rather have for the same money? I might end up getting a nice used one, but I liked the thought of a new one. By the way, the $4899 leftover YZ sounds like way too much for a leftover 2003. I really like the RMs and some of the KTMs, but a deal on any of the MX style 250s would be fine with me. I don't think my skill level is good enough to tell the difference between a 03 RM and a 04 RM, or even the difference between a RM and a KX if I was blindfolded (it would be hard to ride like that). I think that I will have fun on whatever I can get the best price on.
'bclapham', what is the difference between the '01 '02 '03, and the newer RMs? Even the dealers had trouble explaining the differences. The only differences that I found were slightly re-tuned forks on the 2003, and minor power valve (or whatever the proper name is on a RM) changes over the years. The dealers have all pretty much told me that as long as you get the newer frame (from like 2000 or so and up) the bikes are all pretty simular. Anyway, I am still looking for a 'deal'. I have to sell my '98 DR350 (dirt model) first. Its a nice bike, but a little heavy, and I miss the power of my CR500, so its time for something new!
