New Rider Bike: Drz 400?

My buddy has never owned a dirt bike before, and he's not little. I thought a DRZ 400 would be a good starter bike. DOES ANYBODY OWN ONE OR HAVE ANY INFO ON THIS?

yes, it's a mellow powerplant that won't buck him off as long as he's easy with the throttle.

it's a heavy bugger, though.

Only one regret

I own a DRZ-400E! The only bike I ever regretted buying. I have owned an XR-500
350-Qualifier (Can-Am)
250-EXC
DR-350
DRZ-400E
My old DR was my fav. and the reason I bought the other Suzuki. I can't imagine you buddy having trouble with it, mine is that reliable. Having said that it also feels like there is a brick tied to BOTH the front and rear fenders.
Oh well, live and learn.
