Hey guys and gals,

I am new to the forum and dirtbikes but looking to get into riding and need some advice on what bike to get. This seems like the place to be!. I am 31 yrs old and fairly big at 6'3 225lbs. Price range is about 1k-1300 bucks and looking for something fairly quick with low maintenance and very reliable. Im not looking to rebuild something just to make it run right right away. I wont be doing any mxing just trail riding and riding on dirt roads and paved roads to get on it once an a while. I would only be using it on weekeds really. I have seen some 125 and 250 2 strokes and some 4strokes but dont know where i should start. Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks!

Well it seems like from your height and weight that a 125 might be just a little to small for you.. you should prob look at 250 4 stroke.. With that price range you will have to settle for something a little older, but you should be find.. check craigslist..

I'd suggest u to get an 250 2stroke.
125 will be too softy and 4strokers are a lot more expensive.
Btw.You will not get very reliable and good bike for 1-1.3k.

Theres plenty of good deals out there for that price range. You can find decent 125 or 250 2 smokes in that range. In michigan you can get good bikes all day in that range.

I would not recommend a TTR-xxx for you. They are a great beginner bike but they are built on the short side, intended for smaller riders. With you 6'3" frame you will be sitting very awkward on the bike and your center of gravity will be too high.

For your price range a 250 two stroke would be your best bet. That KTM 250exc sounds like a great deal.
