Nick Wey to ride for McGrath (NOT!!!)

From RacerX

Michigan's Nick Wey, formerly a member of Yamaha of Troy and Splitfire/Pro Circuit Kawasaki, announced yesterday at a local race in Michigan that he had signed a new contract to be Jeremy McGrath's teammate in 2002. The spot opened for Wey last Thursday when Ryan Hughes officially announced his retirement after a doctor told him he could no longer race safely following numerous concussions. Hughes was to ride outdoors only in 2002, just as he did this year with Team Honda. No details on whether Wey would be riding all year or which classes he would be entering.
Good for Wey. Hopefully he gets a kick in the butt and shows some good results.

Nick has always been a fave of mine I hope he can put up some good results. He should definitely have a solid effort behind him.

New news! Bad news for Wey

It seems RacerX was in error.

From www.motoworld.com
Just when you thought things were finally settling down... Nick Wey really doesn't have a ride for next season. The Michigan native was rumored to have a deal with McGrath racing for 2002 but it was never really on the table in the first place. The deal wasn't too clear when the story broke the first time, that's why we never said anything.
Too bad for Wey. Hope he finds a home.
