I just pulled the valve stem out of my front tube. As I pulled the tire off the rim I noticed there is no rim lock. The rim isn't even drilled for one. Does anyone know if an old air cooled KDX should have a rim lock??

I have seen the OEM rims not have them. You can look on the parts microfiche on the Kawasaki site to see for sure.

My 89 did not have a front rim lock. I never had any problem running without one on the front. I'm using a yz250 front end now, and that rim had a rim lock in it so I'm using it.

Thanks, The rim has a bunch of cracks so I guess I'll lace on a new rim and put on a rim lock. I'm not sure what came first but the end result was no air in the tire and the tire spun on the rim ripping out the stem. I didn't mount this front tire but it was a new tire right before I got the bike. I tend to be pretty aggressive on downhills with the brakes. That should be the only way you can spin a front!

Was told I wouldn't need a rimlock on my 250, first time I braked hard with 12 psi ripped the valve stem off.
