How do you suppose the gas gets into the float bowl? Gravity. And while the gas gets to the float bowl, oil will be added. Besides I think you would be hard pressed to to ride for more than about the 30 to 60 seconds while you float bowl gets sucked dry at an angle in which your carb is higher than your gas tank. Makes sense right? Yes.
hehe, I'm not worried about riding it sideways. I'm worried about those times when I'm stuck on the side of a hill with it on me or tumbling down after me. But perhaps you are right, if the gas is premixed in long before then we might be good to go. And perhaps that isn't that long of a time.
