oil pump gasket

i recently replaced the gasket on the clutch cover and in the case there is a channel for the oil to pump through the filter. half in over and have in the crank case. the guy before me did not gasket this, (he used silicone gasket maker, as i did) but i think there is suppposed to be one there, any ideas....once again theres nothing is the shop manual

im going out now to fill it with oil, i am going to unscrew the oil pipe and check for good flow, but i dont know how much it should be getting.
