Opinons on 2005 TM 300 vs 250 Enduro

I am very seriously considering the purchace of a new TM to replace my 1994 KTM 250 EXC. I was most interested in getting a TM 300, but my local dealer informs me that only the 250s were brought into the west coast and a 300 would need to be special ordered. He went on to say the distributor told him the 250 ran better and they would recommed it over the 300. I do realize I would be giving up some low-end but would be interested in any other thoughts in contrasting these two bikes.

Other questions I would pose:

1. Could the top-end of a 300 be bolted on to the 250 if desired later?

2. How would these bikes compare to a 2005 KTM 300?

3. How would the 250 compare to my 1994 KTM 250 EXC?

The 05 would absolutely anhalite your 94, I have a 96tm250e and am fitting new works forks off Paul Edmensons teams crs and porting the engine and even doing thatd itd still get walloped.From what ive read in tbm the 250s very hard to ride for the average rider as its very much mx based, the 300 meant to be a jem. Great bikes and fantastic looking though. Id love a new 250 Tm too though but id say itd need a few mods to calm her down, prob just a base gasket and a fww.
