They just passed SB5800 here which will make basically all ORVs eligible for a street plate subject to a set of requirements - horn, lights, mirror. Looks like 86db noise limit. Pretty low bar on that requirement. Tough. They have made it so that licensed dealers do the inspection and then give the owner a document which they can then take to DMV to get their plate. It's nice to hear a little shred of good news like this. Now move to WA - before it goes away!

This is great news! Just last year they were confinscating plates from converted bikes even if you had them inspected by the DMV to be street legale. If they weren't for the street from the factory you were screwed.

We needed this just to be legale in some areas we ride.
It is illegale to ride a forest service road to the next trail head if your bike isnt street legale, with fines up to $3800.00 They have left it up to the district forester to make a decision on if you can or not.

Now they will start aresting your 12 year old sons on the KX 85 for not having his indorsment on the forest service roads.
