Try the pics now, they should work.

I picked up a Nikon D3100. I fully expect this camera to get destroyed here. As a matter of fact I am on my second one already. I am very hard on my gear... All of these were taken with the kit lens, but I have some more on the way.

And here's some more:

A famous photographer once said something along the lines of , "if you want to take better pictures stand in front of more interesting stuff" .

I think you have that part down COLD Kav. Great pictures that you know only a handful of people could ever take.

Here's a few more from Africa:

I found this guy hanging out under one of the A/C units here. So I ran to my shop and he was nice enough to pose for this shot. He's a Red-billed Firefinch:

And last but not least, Camels! In the wild no less.

Love the pics Kav, I especially like the finch on the razor wire and the shot out of the back of the helo on the dusty landing.

Thanks, I find I love doing night time long exposures. The fish eye has been good to me too. It allows me to take wide angle photos in the helos with out it looking like a fish eye.

Some night time shots:

DSC4809-XL.jpg

And the squadron favorite. Also this is the only shot I got to set up. I've been tasked as the squadron photographer for some reason... So when I set up for this shot I was able to pick the helo I wanted, get the tail rotor placed up I wanted. Shoot it was even washed for the squadron photo. All I had to do was wait for the huge bright lights to get turned off across the airfield. That only took until 4am But I got the shot. And it's tack sharp. (LINK TO FULL SIZE)

Thanks. That 35mm F1.8G rocks. I use it all the time. But the shot took a long time to set up, and several test shots to find what works and what does not over the last month. The main trick here was fixing the auto WB. I used that light gray square on the tail where the "HH" is as my "gray card". But had to do it in Nikon's RAW reading program. Other then that all I did was a slight decrease in brightness, and raise the contrast a hair. The photo was not touched in GIMP or PS (don't own it anyways). The next hurdle for me is to get it done with a 4x5 camera in one shot. I want to be able to blow this picture up huge. I have some blue filters on the way for that. And a 1945 Anniversary Speed Graphics on the way too...

36-48" on the long side, but I want to have as much detail as I can. More so it's to see can I pull it off or not. I have a fair amount of free time here, and I have always wanted to play around with large format. So now seems to be the time.
