I here ya Trig! Sorry to here that. I know you love street riding as much as I do. Its a freaking crime we have to consider not getting back on because people are so dumb. Why is it getting so hard to stay alive on the road? Is it because Im getting older or are people just getting more stupid on the roads? Im really at a loss. I mean, I want to get another bike, I use it as my primary wheels because it saves some much $ for me and I love to ride, but after 4 Helicopter rides, 2 in less than a year from people makeing left turns point blank in front of me, I am questioning my judgement.
This lady pulled out and swung wide making a right turn. I saw her down the road and was like, whats this bone head doing? I started to slow down and move over a bit. Then she straightend out and started going Norht, I was going South. Just as we closed, she pulled her car left, sideways, across my lane! It looks like she was trying to make a U turn on RT 29 at 5 PM, traffic behind her, infront of her, everywere! I slammed the brakes on the VFR, aimed it for the closing space at the far right of my lane between the car and the guard rail and tried to get skinny! The narrow profile of the V 4 probably helped me from hitting harder as my bike jammed between the right front of her 2006 Toyota and the curb and guard rail. My left foot just could not get skinny enough. I tried to lift it up dirt bike style like when you see a rock or tree coming at your boot, but I just could not move fast enough. My foot got stuck between the car and the bike, then some how got tangled up with the the bike as I slid along behind the bike feet first face down. My Joe rocket padded jacket saved me major upper body rash. My helmet saved my head and has one decnet scratch in it that would otherwise be on my head but is otherwise ok. I had on work boots, MX gloves, and jeans. The road melted through my jeans right at the left front pocket, went through half my wallet. The change trailed out on the road. It burnt through 4 of my cards in my wallet and still gave me a dollar size bit of rash on my leg! Im glad I was wearing the gear I was. I won't lie, When its hot I do ride with shorts and sandels especilly on short hops around town like this was. I try to wear as much gear as is comfortable but always a riding jacket since I have (had :| ) a nice mesh Joe Rocket coat.
My fib broke clean about 2" above the ankle and the knob of my Tib broke off at the ankle. 9 screws later and a plate has it back together pretty well. No other major injuries besides some scratches and bruises.
The bike is savable but probalby not for what they are going to give me. Its an 86 VFR 750 with 60 K miles on it. Great freaking bike though, had it forever.
What happened to you Trig?
