Parts compatibility CRF250R <-> CRF250X

Hi,

I own a 2004 CRF250X.
After reading the Nov' 2004 issue of Dirt Bike Magazine (quite a while ago), and the article about the cost-effective mods, I decided i'll go all way with what is said there. :cool:

So I have a few questions, with the main question being..

Which parts are not(!) compatible with the CRF250X, that are made for the CRF250R? can I buy all the: frame guards, engine mods, exhaust systems ETC... that are made for the CRF250R and bolt-on to my X? :blah:

Basically, this is what i've got planned:
-Dual DSP Power Now's (Rear & Intake of carb)
-Exhaust system (more on that at the end)
-Pink wire snipp (+1000 rev)

My bike has a Twin Air filter.

Now I'm thinking about a few exhaust systems:
-Yoshimura TRC Competition series (Carbon).
-White Bro's E2.
-FMF Titanium 4 with Ti Mid-Pipe.

Personally I would not waste a nickle on Exhaust systems as I made that mistake only because I got it at below dealer. I got a Bill's as the loudness is not bad. The CHM systems do dyno well (best out there). The R silencer on the X will make come alive and is quieter than uncorking the X can.

Best money spent for an 04X is get an 05 Head and a Hot Cam Cam. For around $400 it will run circles around any 04 X out there or any pipe made.

Bolt ons likes guards will interchange. Gas Tanks are unique. Side number plates are unique.

Power now... I hear claims but good getting and fuel will get the same feel.

Isn't it better to get an aftermarket exhaust from the ones i listed for a bit more then the original R can?
Where can I buy a 2005 head and a Hot cam for my 250X from?

Service Honda for the head, the hot cam from a local parts house, E bay or TT.

IMO and many others, the factory exhaust does extremely well. The aftermarket pipes make lots of noise :( and move the power from one range to another to get a gain. A few will give the feel of Mo Power since they enhance a certain range and drop off another. So you may get a false hit that was not there before. So a ceratin pipe may be good for you at a certain track or your style of ride, but very few pipes will give you much more than 1-2 HP across the range, .4 - 1.2 is more like it.

I'll contact service Honda for the head, I forgot, what's "TT" ? which online store?
Local parts store where I am at now don't and won't ever stock parts for a racing bike (currently i'm in Israel, racing is illegal here... as well as all motor racing vehicles).

Btw, do you know any place that tested aftermarket exhaust on the CRF250X? i'm interested reading the results...

Dirt Bike Magazine and Trail rider had some. I will see if I can find the articles over the weekend.
