I'm headed out to Phelan on Saturday the 15th if anyone is interested. Haven't decided where I'll stage yet, open to thoughts. I was thinking to stage on the west side by the 138, saves a little drive time by not parking where we usually do. I know you need a forest pass so get one ready just in case. Probably hit there around 9 this time, I have to work till 3am the night before so you guys get a reprieve on the early start.

Let's hear who's in!

That place has turned into head on central on the weekends. It might be a little better now that they have access road next to the 15 closed but at least keep it mind when blasting corners.

I will try and make it though.

We can still park at the usual if you like. Good to hear it Tony, it's been a while. Hope you can make it too Jeff.

Dont be a Sally. It would be a good warn up ride.

Well, then I would miss my 8yo's B-day party. Skating. I really need to limit my wifes influence on the boys...

Too bad some of the old crew can't make it. Looks to be a good weekend, I'll post the staging spot later this week. Thanks

If we stage at the 138, where do you normally park Jeff?

I used to park right along the 15 but it was closed due to RR construction. Im not sure if its open or not anymore.

Now you can park at the 15 & Cleghorn which sucks because of crowding, lack of parking and high chance of head on while riding up to the trails.

The other option is to get off at 138 and head east to the RR yard. Opposite the yard is the other staging area for Cleghorn. This is where we park now. From there its a short run over to the 138 at Silverwood but you dont have access to ridge trails.

Years ago I remember seeing a turnoff for ohv parking somewhere before the restaurant at the138 and the 2. I think it leads to the little concrete water tower at the bottom of the two hills.

That area has become a pain in the ass.

OK, we're set, we'll meet at the mickey d's on the 138 at the 15 at 0900, that's 9 am for you civilians. ;) Plan on getting a forest pass just in case, they sell them at the Chevron next to Mickey's but you may want to grab one before just in case they're out. See you then!

Routes we were talking about. If you want to cut your drive time then I suggest going to Cleghorn Rd or going east on the 138 to the alternate Cleghorn.

First is 15/138 to Cleghorn Alt
Second is tighter on Cleghorn Alt turnoff
Third is an overview of all the areas.

Fourth is west of 15
Fifth is west of 15 with what I think is the turnoff

Im not exactly sure where the cutoff is but its still far from the 138 & 15 junction.

Or you can save a bunch of driving and park at 15 and Cleghorn. You will have to ride some fire road to the trail but will save you some truck miles.

Make sure you hit the Cleghammer. Its the rocky off shoot just to the right at the start of the trail.

The yellow line drawn straight across measured 6.47 miles. With twists and turns I think its somewhere around 8.

Confused yet?

Did someone almost come head on with a KTM? If so, I am sorry. Lucky there was a split in the trail. They need to put separate trails for different directions.
