KDub got the hole shot and held it to the end. Chad chased him to the end but couldn't catch him. A good race.

Kevin also took out DV in the first few laps. I'm not sure what that was about.

According to DV the AMA is going to let K-Dub's victory stand but penalize him 10 points for "Aggressive Riding" for the incident on the first lap. I have not seen the incident but what kind of garbage is that? Either he should be DQ'ed (unlikely) or it's "just racing". Sounds like Yamaha has more muscle than Honda when it comes to the AMA this season.

This one will be televised today

What Network? All I saw was ESPN2 at 8:00pm EST. I'll be on an airplane this evening so I'd like to catch the earlier showing of the race.

Opps, I just checked the ESPN2 schedule and saw that these races are on ESPN2 at the times noted by Mr. KX Rider.

Thanks for the heads up...now I'm pissed that I read the spoiler!!!

Thank goodness KW stepped up.  I was afraid that this year was going to be a runaway CR show.  :thumb:

Another great week of racing. K-Dub totally stuffed DV12 in that corner, but hey, David was definitely gunning for Kevin’s line so he got what he had coming.

Reed had a good race, moving up to second, but I thought his podium excuse was a little week. The track was too slippery? I’m sure it was slippery as he wasn’t the only rider to make that comment but, I’m sorry, were you on a different track then the other riders?

It’s one thing to comment on it, it’s another thing to use it as an excuse. How ‘bout “well if I hadn’t finished seventh in my heat race, forcing me into a semi, I wouldn’t have been so tired. I just didn’t have the energy to catch-up to Windham.”

what kind of crap is that punishing k-dub for "aggresive riding", the langston evans battle last week was twice as bad. hopefully, k-dub can overcome that and take the championship. to bad RC is out, that would make a pretty cool 3way battle if he was there. besides aren't the french supposed to back down from a fight??

Holy crap :scream: Now riders will get get penalized for aggressive contact.
Quote from K-Dub ""I've said what I can say. I'm not happy that it happened. If you look at my history as a professional, I've never taken a guy out in 10 years. Then all of a sudden now one comes up where we hit and he went down, and it's unfortunate. I don't like to see it, I wish that it hadn't happened.""
So if you ride clean your whole career, have one bad turn, oopps, sorry, gonna have to take 10 points away. Even Jamie Little said it right, "rubbin is racing". And K-Dub made a very good point. He stuffed DV by going inside, thinking he would cut back under him. But DV did not. We have to remember as fans. We do not race these guys every weekend, they do. When you race certain guys enough, you get to know how other riders react, or if they can react, ya know. Oh well what do we know, We don't work for the AMA for a living, but I think this is one of the most pathetic rules I've heard of.

I just watched it and then slow motion replayed the incidents a few times. DV was pushing Kevin out there is no doubt so he shut if down in that corner. The 180 degree turn where Kevin took out the Cobra had the perfect angle on it and you can see Kevin lands about 1/3 of the way into the corner. To me he had committed at the jump and there wasn't much he could do about it. I suspect DV thought he could beat him out of the corner but you can also tell he didn't see or hear it coming because he never looked until he saw the red Honda plastic on his left. I don't ever recall Kevin being an aggressive rider and doung much bumping & rubbing. I just read the link above and his explination seems to explain it very well. He did have a very good chance of getting injured or going down so I don't think intentially wanted to send DV sailing. Then again DV has always been a bit more towards to RC scale of rough riding so I am not going to shed any tears for him on it.

If the AMA addressed it prior to the race covering what the possible fine for that type of riding would be I think the 10 point penalty would be acceptable. Since they did not have a plan I think they should not dock him the points and say to all the riders that from here on out this is what will happen if we determine it was overly aggressive. Making the rules up as they go allong seems to be what the AMA is good at though so who knows maybe they will have Okie dock me 10 posts for this post

Docking K-dub 10 points is B.S. The langston/evans thing was way worse. Its nice to see K-dub geting aggresive I hope he don't let this get in his head he needs to forget about it and put his head down and charge. How about the DV/Ferry battle that was good racing. How come when Reed loses he always says the track was to easy or it didn't suit his style, buck up and take it like a man you got beat fair and square. Just my .02

Actually in "Wide Open A Life in Supercross" McGrath even mentions how he really liked the more technical tracks AND Reed modeling himself after MCGrath's style on a bike. The more technically demanding tracks with killer whoops do seem to favor the technician riders.

don't take this is as some crappy anti-american thing cause it's not but i've got my hopes pinned on Reed taking it this year, I think the guy is awesome and is a joy to watch on the track.
I haven't seen anyone ride a supercross track like he does since the days of Jean-michelle.
smooth but aggressive. perfect mix.

great result for windham! maybe this season isn't going to be a Reed white wash i thought it was after all.

there seems to be a lot of anti-Reed people on here, seems kinda strange really, the guy has a gift. I hope it's not cause he's an ozzie!

If the AMA starts doing this point penalty thing, where does it end?  If the Windham/DV pass is a 10 pointer, then Tyler Evans should have negative points on the season.

How much contact does a rider get to make for 5 points?  Should DV get a 2.5 point penalty for his earlier pass on Windham?  Why no 15+ point penalties to Langston and Evans for Anaheim I?

If a rider is guilty of dirty riding, then black flag (DQ) him, or give him a warning and/or a fine after the race.  Otherwise, let the riders be aggressive.  It's professional SX fer Chrissakes, not tiddlywinks.

IMO, Windham should have got a warning for the move, but the 10 point penalty for a first offense is BS.  And now the AMA is forced to be consistent, or the BS smells even worse.

I'm with Jenny and Dave here. Is there a precedent for this point docking? Is it in the rules anywhere? I'm questioning the authority of the AMA officials to penalize like this without it being in writing beforehand. And the amount of the penalty compared to the "infractions" would be highly subjective. I'm calling BS on the whole thing. And, FWIW, like Pantsman said, it looked to me like K-dub was pretty much comitted to his line coming off the jump.

And yeah, the DV/Ferry heat race was awesome! :thumb:

Who's anti Reed? I'm not. I think that he has proved himself as a GRAET racer. I just think he was too tired for the main. If he had a better position from the hole-shot in his quailifer he wounldn't have gotten tangled-up and done so poorly, causing him to have to enter a second race. Don't blame it on a slippery track.

In fact, I'd like to see him or K-Dub win the whole thing. I'm hoping they duke it out every week. Here's to exciting racing!

It was the same pass that Pastrana tried on Carmichael. Tried to turn in, whoops! someone's already there.

The ten point dockage is B.S., and I sense another asterisk if it comes down to those ten points at the end of the year. :|
