I noticed a yellowish plastic that seems to hold all of the needles together in the rear suspension bearings. Is it OK, or better, to remove the plastic and replace the needles with some good grease? Seems like the suspension would work better without the OEM plastic stuff?
Thanks.

Dont stop there. There are alot of needles and races that need to be cleaned and re-greased when getting a new bike. Be it a new or used bike, always take every part off the bike (except maybe the case) and clean and regrease it. Bearings, Bolts..... anything that might rust or moves alot. It will save you alot of money and heartache in the long run.
