Next week I'm shipping off my cylinder off to Eric Gorr. Most of my questions have been answered by various CR owners about what to expect. I'm wondering if it is worth it to get the cases ported and match also. What does this envolve? When you get the cases ported does it need to be split, Is the performance woth it, etc. Eric advertises his price at $50. Which is not that much more, except for actually shipping the engine. Any comments will be appreciated.

The CR250 cases are pretty cleanly matched to the cylinder. On some 125s we shape the entrance to the transfer ports, or pack epoxy in next to the reed valve to reduce the volume in the cases. Its not worth the trouble of splitting the cases on the CR250, unless you already have it apart for a crankshaft rebuild.
Thanks, Eric
