I'm giving my current ride, 1989 KDX 200, to my nephew, so I need to replace it with a relatively cheap bike. I'm going to go look at a 1995 KTM 250EXC. I know nothing about KTM's of this era or any other, so please tell me if you have experience with this bike. Do the models change much from year to year? For instance, there is no difference between a '89 KDX 200 and a '95 model. There all proven rock solid. The bike is a second owner bike with complete motor rebuild and complete suspension rebuild by a well known MX builder. The bike looks very clean in the picture. Price is $1500. Thanks for any help.

I had a 94 250exc. It was a good bike, had a great motor and handling was ok. The motors from about 91 to 99 where pretty much the same parts wise. They changed ingnitions in 97 I think. That was for the better. I went through one SEM stator on mine. If the one you are looking at really does have a fresh motor and fresh suspension it should be a solid bike.

I'd stay away. I owned a 95 550 and thought the forks sucked and ignition sucked. True most parts remained unchanged in that 91-95 year stint, but in my opinion the 95's were a bit subpar.bn
