I don't think anyone will be there on the 14th....:debil:

The race date is Sunday the 20th.

Still on the fence about racing it though.....

I rode out at Prarie City this weekend. It is a little sloppy right now, but should be in ggod shape in a couple of weeks - baring major rain.

I probabaly won't ride the GP but my son will be competing in the youth race.

Bigbird - where were you for the Wilseyville race - it was my first harescramble and te conditions were absolutely PERFECT!

Wilseyville absentee

LocoCD, I was nursing a sore wing. I met Mr. Tree at the 49'er the previous weekend in the second to last special test. The crash rearranged my brake pedal, and bruised my right side pretty good. I was numb on that side for quite a while.

I took the time to tear down my KTM and freshen it up for the next season. Look for us at Prairie City, we'll be in our fifth wheel with "Pug Racing" on the back door.

Muddy and sloppy - maybe.

Big fields of bowling ball sized rocks with just enough dried grass to cover them, 6 foot blind drop offs, slick as snot clay - guaranteed!!!

Hey guys how would the prarie city GP be for a B rider who has'nt raced since the mid eighties? In other words would I be faced with unclimable hills or be a speed bump for wild-eyed A riders? I would like to come but I don't want to be an obstacle for the serious guys.

ziggypop. PCGP is a good starter race, no big hills, really not too technical, you just need to watch out for the drop offs, and maintain a steady rhythm through the rocks.

Riders are started in waves with the A vet riders starting first and so on. If you are a B rider, you will be starting on the third or later row behind the faster riders. Don't worry about them passing you, the A riders will get by, just don't try to race in front of a better rider. Let him/her by, and try to learn the lines and technique.

Good luck.

It was still pretty wet this weekend. With cold temps this week I wouldn't expect it to dry out roo much.

We will be out there for a ride this Saturday, I will post a note about course conditions later Saturday afternoon.

Since there is NO pre-entry, be sure to get there early enough to register before the race.

Who raced and how did you do?
I raced in the A/B race and started out slow but the last couple of laps I passed alot of riders who seemed to be tired. I had a couple of close calls with high speed crashes but managed to stay on the bike. The course was mostly dry with some mud holes. Hopefully they post the results on D-36 website soon.

I was there, BUT, had the misfortune of endoing shortly after the start. Had a pretty good start and was within the top 20 or so after we left the pavement. Then I got a bad line avoiding two riders who got tangled up and endoed. Landed on a rock pretty hard on my hip. Was able to complete two laps before my hip would not let me continue:ugg: The good news is that my clutch lever survived... I think everything else is bent or broken.

I had to sit out but my son did race in the youth class. He did extremely well, no official results yet, but I think he was in the top 3-4.

We watch a lot of gnarly crashes throughout the day. I understand there was a fair share of broken bones, dislocated shoulders and trashed bikes. The "best" start of the day was the C-4 Stroke class. A rider hit the road transition full speed, flies across the road into the fence, bent a metal post over with his body then got ran over by 2 bikes that subsequently crashed. Quite a site.

I don't feel so bad now. I did see a few bikes laying alongside the course with no riders around. Was wondering if they had to be carted off??

PCGP

I thought it was a typical PCGP. Maybe a little dryer than in previous years which made the occasional mud hole more of a surprise. I too saw several riders down in the A/B race that I ran. The choppy ground, and the speeds more than likely led to some fast getoffs.

My ride was uneventful until my last lap where I ran out of gas on my KTM EXC 300 on an approach ramp to a jump on the practice MX track. By the time I got it started on reserve, at least 20 riders got by me. In hindsight, I will now put my bike on reserve at the start. Usually, I can expect about 50+ miles out of my tank before reserve, and I was at 45 miles according to my Odo, so I made a tactical error.

In all, I had a lot of fun. 'Looking forward to Hollister.

I never put my KTM 250 exc on reserve. I went 7 laps and didn't pit. I was running on fumes at the finish. I belive the course was about 9 miles so I went about 63 miles on 1 tank ! Hopefully we get some rain before Hollister.

Mudrider mileage

Last year my bike was getting over 60 miles before reserve. At Virgina City I went three laps before gassing. I haven't changed anything, but at the Prime Time I ran out of gas on the last lap, and I have noticed a drop in mileage. I have checked the float setting, and even dropped it a bit. So, I am puzzled.

Some time ago, on this web site, I recall reading about some people who used Red Line oil, as I do, having significant drops in mileage requiring a carburetor change. I don't want to believe that an oil can erode the internals of a carburetor to the extent that the jetting is enrichened, but I am beginning to suspect that something is amiss. My low throttle settings seem to be rich, but it runs crisp at 1/2 throttle and above.

Mudrider, what oil do you use?

I always put my 200 on reserve. I ran out in my first race and 2 guys in my class passed me while I switched to reserve.
I went 6 laps and still had 80ozs. when I drained my tank.
The results are up. I got 92nd overall and 8th in vet B. I took a couple big falls, but didn't get hurt. Mudrider, what class do you ride? 244 riders is a lot of bikes for that place.

With stock jetting, my bike ran out of gas at 42 miles. I use Bel Ray HR1 oil.
With the transparent tank, I usually check my fuel level at the home check to see if I should pit or not.

I ride in the A vet class and took 6 th place.
I plan to race my 200 mxc in the National and use my 3.5 gallon tank.
