I just bought a new chain saw from Stihl. It has a new engine design called a "4Mix". It is a 4 stroke engine designed to run on pre-mix, thus eliminating the need for an oil bath, pump and associated hardware. Sounds to me like a good idea: saves weight, always have fresh oil for the engine and lower maintenance. Anyone have any thoughts, I know we're always wanting to save weight !

Yes, the 4 stroke versions of the model airplane engines do have valves and cams. I own both 2 and 4 stroke airplane engines and the both use the same fuel which contains oil.
