i'm 98% sure they're separate pipes, teh platinum is more for top-end gains, where the platinum 2 is set up for bottom end, ie to compete with gnarly.

Nope, the Platinum 2 is a different pipe than the Works/Platinum. The Works/Platinum is a top end pipe, while the new Platinum 2 is a bottom end pipe...

"Pro Circuit's latest model, the Platinum 2, is an extremely technical pipe that utilizes state of the art heavy-duty construction that challenges the limits of all terrains. The innovative system helps with increased bottom to mid-range power, making it perfect for unique styles of riding. The entire body is contructed from 18 gauge metal to help with added protection against rock damage and the rigors of offroad racing. The Platinum 2 also has a nickel-plating finish and corrosion solution for prolonged life. Designed as a high performance torge pipe that generates excellent traction and maintains a comfortable roll-on power, the Platinum 2 is the ideal pipe for riding in tight conditions or for anyone looking for more snap."
