I'm considering working on the forks on my xr4, and wanted some opinions on the two different springs. What do you prefer and why? Also, im six feet tall and weigh 200 pounds, ride everything from desert to rocky steep trails. Thanks

I am 6'2" and 215. I chose straight rate because I spend a lot of time in the mud. I wanted the ride height and was afraid that progressive springs would sag too much in the intial travel under muddy conditions.

I've got a KDX200 and i'm about your size and went with straight rate springs. I did some research and couldn't find anybody that liked the progressive springs. Most common complaint was they were too mushy to start and then got harsh in a hurry.

Based on the variables we can control straights are better, but... If we could control rates and crossovers then progressives would be good.
