I was just wondering what the best things are to do to the pw50 without spending much money,because my mom got one for my sister at a yard sale for $100 and it is really slow(i know it is not made for hi-performance racing but it sucks).Here are the things I have done so far:cleaned the carb 4 times,an ngk 4 series plug,removed the oil injection(40:1 premix)and I am going to disconnect the start switch and buy a 65 mainjet and a no toil air filter.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks FruDaddy,but I have already seen the first article and have peeweecycle on my bookmarks list.The second article helped out though.

Well, the first thing I did was get the Boyeson reed and jetted it. Later I added stiffer clutch springs to get it out of the corners and off the gate quicker, and a no-toil filter. The lower gear helped a lot of others, but I never bothered with them. If you are still using the stock pegs, get rid of them, kids are a bit more comfortable if their feet don't slide around. I think I spent less than $100 on mods to the bike and watched my boy get enough air to pull no-footers. If you are AMA illegal anyway, FMF makes a Fatty and a couple of silencers for it, I never used them either.

Check the compression and make sure that there's no restrictor in the exhaust. You could also put a QT ring and pinion gear on it. It will lose some top end but it will be faster off the line.

the Qt50 reaqr end is the best bang for the buck. Freshening up the topend and an overbore will help too. depending on how the rider is the 65 main might be too lean. We siezed a few motors with the 65. ended up running a 67.5 when the boy was running hard.

My son is going to Loretta's on his PW50 this year. We are running the stock 70 main jet just like Austin McKee did on it last year. Check the compression and freshen up the top end if necessary. Find a QT gear set up already installed in a housing so that you can swap it back and forth with the stock gears with ease.

I do not know of any place that these articles can currently be found. It is possible that I have them on my other computer, but I haven't had a chance to look. My son stopped racing the PW50 two years ago, so I may have deleted them.
If I do happen to have the articles, you have provided no way to provide them to you, except to post them to the web somewhere, and post a link. I will try to remember to look tomorrow, in the meantime, I'm gonna need a place to send them to.
