I bought a little bike for my kids. All it says is Yamaha and PW. Engine burnt up due to faulty oil pump. I am looking at a new cylinder, piston, rings, gaskets and bearings. I just need to know how to figure out if it is a PW50 or PW80. My guess is PW50 because it says 49CM on the side of the cylinder. HELP!!!

Is the oil tank under the seat or behind the front number plate? The 50 has it behind the plate. Also, the PW 80 is chain drive while the 50 has a shaft. Another easy visual check, the PW80 has wire spokes and a 12 inch rear tire. If you are still unsure, go to the Yamaha website and take a look at the pictures of the PW50, they have changed very little since the beginning of time, and they barely even resemble the 80.

I got it figured out. It is a 50. Oil tank is up front. 10" wheels. My question is why bore the cylinder? New cylinder is $95 and top end kit std is $60 as where having it bored is $85 and a .020 top end kit is about $100!!
