PW80 Woes

I recently bought a 1999 Yamaha PW80 for my son's birthday.
Its his first bike. It starts easily enough, and seems to run well, but when I pulled the silencer out of the pipe it was really grungy and very wet with oil. (the air filter was pretty clean though). I'm no mechanic, but is the oily exhaust normal or a symptom of another problem?

You can try to adjust the oil pump (get a Clymer manual for directions) or change the oil that to use to see if there is improvement, I like Motul600 for injected bikes. Also, if the bike has the stock jetting in it, it is probably running rich.
