question about 1990 yz 125 oil/ gas mix

hey there, i just picked up a 1990 yamaha yz 125, runs awesome! is there any way i could find out what are better mixes to use. he told me he uses 8oz of oil for every gallon, but he didnt know if that was correct. Thanks!

also. are there any pipes out there to make this bike a little quieter? are the stock ones quiet? right now it has an fmf with silencer on it, but ive been told the silencer really makes it louder. any other pipes out there? Thanks!

You need to use 4 oz. of oil per gallon.

Yes, 8 oz. is too much. Also a stock muffler will probably be quiter than the FMF, if it is a shorty.

Like everyone said 8Oz to a gallon is a 16-1 ratio and way to much oil try 4oz to a gallon which is a 32-1 ratio.

u can even run 36:1

or 40:1, which is 3.2 oz. per gallon, but don't go much less than that

check the packing in your silencer may be time for repack

whats packing?

packing is just insulator like stuff that goes inside the silencer that makes it quieter and gives a bit more power on top, and it can be bought at any dealer or website.
