I am looking at a 98 KTM 125 SX for my son. He is moving up from a KX 80. He is 16 yrs. old and rides harescrambles and trailrides. He weighs 125 lbs. and is 5'8'' tall. Will this be a good bike for him? Can the bike be wired up for lights ?Does the 98 have a hydraulic clutch? Does it have a linkage type rear suspension. How often will it need a top end? Any info. on these ques. or any other info. reguarding this model bike, will be greatly appeciated.

I had a 98 KTM 200mxc, same bike, more cc's. First year linkless shock. Not their best year. 45mm Marzochhi fork. Not the best fork. Does have the hyd. clutch. Cannot be wired for lights w/o after mkt. lighting coil. These bikes do not need top ends as often as Japanese bikes. Have Mahle forgred pistons, Top notch item. Overall a solid bi ke with good build quality but poor suspension, If you can find a 99, 50mm WP fork (awesome) and 2nd year PDS shock much better, good motor. KTM makes great bikes.

Thanks Yota

He says the bike is in very good cond.,has never been raced but has been for sale for a while. Maybe the problems you brought up are the reason why. We have never had a KTM but from what I have seen they are very high quality. I may pass on this one. There is a 2000 model for sale also but at a considerably higher price. Thanks again,
Mike
