Questions on rebuild or check out engine

Can anyone tell me what they look for when tearing
down motor?rings,bearings,ect,and what are the
2 dimensions that I need that I heard or read
somewhere?How often should a person change
main crank bearings,big end ,small end?
Thanks ahead of time for any and all answers
as I would like to get a Ideal on wether its just as
cheap to send off or do myself.
Its a 2002 exc 200 and hasnt been touched yet.

Eric Gorr recommends on 200cc and less once a year for lower end rebuilds, top end at the very least, my opinion, once a year. Check out the link to the left, good info and very competitive pricing if you decide to have someone else do it.

for the help.Do you or anyone know what the clearances
that I am supposed to look for.power valve and top of piston
I think.Need to know or I might as well buy a service manual
for the 200 exc.Still need to know what it is that I need to watch out
for.Thanks overbore.

What you're looking for are the X and Z dimensions. X is the distance of the top of the piston (@ TDC) from the top of the cylinder deck, and Z is a measurment from the bottom/middle of the power valve to the top of the cylinder. You need a manual to get the specs.
