re-coat cylinder during rebuild?

As soon as I get some more money together, I want to do a top end rebuild on my 1991 kdx200. It is still on the original piston, but starts 1st kick EVERY time and has plenty of power. I'm not sure how many miles are on the motorcycle but I figure better safe than sorry. Do kdx's typically need to have the cyliner re-coated with nikasil when doing a rebuild? As long as there are no scratch marks or rough spots on the cylinder, do you think it would be alright just to put in a new piston? Thanks for your time.

If therer are no scratch marks then i would have it measured and deglazed. If it is still in spec then throw a new piston in it. If not then have it gorred, i mean bored and replated.

I would mesure the cylinder bore to make sure it's not out of round. The plating is not eternal and chances are that after more than 10 years on the original piston, it will need replating to bring it back to spec.
