Hi, a simple question a few of you might be able to answer for me, is there any difference between a 2001 CR125 rear shock and a 2001 CR250 rear shock? in general do all the 125 motorcross bikes come out with the same rear shock as their 250 counterparts? I guess th spring weight may vary but are the items interchangeable? one other thing what year's of CR shock will fit a 2001? i'm guessing 98- 01 are all the same? thanks in advance if anyone can help.

I'm not sure about the shock, but the CR125 uses kayaba forks while the CR250 uses Showa. It would be unusual for a bike to have Kayaba forks and a Showa shock. My best guess would be that the CR125 uses a Kayaba shock and I know that the CR250 uses a showa shock. They are probably interchangable in that I suspect you could mount a 125 shock on a 250 and vice versa. Beyond this there is probably little similarity.

Thanks Bike pilot, I was pretty sure that some of the CR125's had a Showa rear shock but I could be wrong. anyone else know about this?

It does fit, you can interchange the shock between a cr125 and 250. Same thing with the forks. I tried with a 00cr125 and my friend's 00cr250. It was during winter and we both had our bikes apart. I didn't ride the bike like this though.

Thanks for your reply, I have been offered a 2000 CR125 shock to replace my damaged 2001 CR250 shock sounds like it should work fine? Is the 125 shock the same quality as the 250 item? cheers

No Hand,
The forks on the 00 CR 125 are 46mm and the 00 CR250 47mm.
I know but I was pretty sure this difference is only the slider diameter? I'm quite positive outer tube diameter is the same to fit the honda clamp. I'll have to check.
