My hubby, Red, had an awesome and exciting weekend at the Red Bud National. He wrenched for local riding buddy #296 Bryan White. Bryan, who has been racing pro for about 4 years, had a great weekend and rode his butt off in the qualifiers to make his first National. He beat out lots of fast guys in the Sunday morning qualifier, like Oehlhof, Buckelew, Dehaan, and Metz, to make the big show. Unfortunately, a hard crash in moto one ended Bryan's day early, but regardless, he made it!
Just a little background on Bryan - not only does he FLY on a bike, he goes to college full-time, and will be wrapping up his Bachelor's Degree in Business later this year. He also works part-time and teaches MX schools and gives private lessons to help with the costs of racing. Bryan was one of the top Wonder Warthog privateers in the past few years, making several SX night shows, finishing well in the Canada SX rounds, and making the Sunday programs at Nationals.
We have been cheering him on at the races since he qualified for his first SX night show at Pontiac back in 2002, and had a great time this weekend watching him put it all together to make the competitive field at Red Bud.
Big Lou was on hand with the camera and got tons of great photos to capture the moment. I put some of them up here - click the thumbnails for larger photos. Even have an awesome shot from MXGirl230's hubby, Phil. You can see Red gooning it up giving Bryan the pit board in his Sunday morning qualifier too, the final qualifier that got him into the show!
