Land Use Enthusiasts,
On the Ferron Mountain area of the Manti Lasal National Forest, sometime between June 30th and July 7th, somebody on ATVs turned a marshy meadow into a race track. This sort of deliberate damage is just what SUWA loves to see! The Forest Service uses things like this to justify more restrictions and closures. Tearing up a wet meadow might be fun for five minutes of thrill but the long lasting effect to the environment, the watershed and our access to public lands is not worth it. Each of us must learn to resist this temptation and consider the long lasting impacts of such actions.
The SouthEastern Utah Off-Highway Vehicle club (SEUOHV) voted to offer a $500.00 reward towards the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this act of destruction. We sincerely hope that the culprits are arrested, convicted and ordered to restore the meadow to its original condition. Please print and post the attached Reward Poster and help us to educate the OHV public that "the times they are a changing" and we all must change our habits accordingly.
Thanks,
Alan J. Peterson
