Hi,

I own a 2006 YZ250
In my country the gas stations have 95 and 98 unleaded gasoline. I don't know how the quality is compare to the gasoline in the USA.
Should I use the highest unleaded octane that I can find in gas stations or it's not good for the engine? (detonation etc.)

Thanks

ouu

wish i could get 98 octane at the pump here :yikes: lol

we had 95 for a while, but esso or EXXon decided to pull the plug due to sales a few years ago

highest we got is sunoco's 94 octane

i have run octane boosters in my bike before with not too many problems

normally i run 94 octane with my synthetic oil

hey if you can get 98, i would put that in my tank, but if its alot more money, dont bother, 95 is already plenty lol

Use the highest pump octane available to you.

Pump octane ratings outside the US are RON ratings, while we use a (RON+MON) / 2 rating as our pump number.

So his 98 octane fuel is the same basic fuel as our 92-94 octane pump premium.

true, i found an awesome link here

http://www.btinternet.com/~madmole/Reference/RONMONPON.html

the YZ250 recommends 91 octane

i run 94 octane, the site shows that the PON, or our north american pump number is the same as your 98

so our 91= your 95 octane

so run at least 95 and your good

always wondered why everyone elses numbers were high lol

his numbers are calculated by formulas

ours is the average of the calculated octane, and the tested pre-ignition resistance
