RM/KX100 Exhaust valve Question

I am looking very seriously at the KX/RM100 for my son's next bike. The budget won't permit the purchase of a new one. I'd like to purchase a used one with exhaust valves, for good low end/torque. What was the first year KWAZUKI for the exhaust valved engine? What years would you guys suggest?

well first of all, the kx/rm100 was ONLY made in 03. Prior to that suzuki made their own version in like the 70's but stoped making them in the late 70's. not sure on actually year however. kawasaki has made the kx100 since 94? not sure on exact year either. but up to 2002 they made it then they made the kx and rm in 03 and in 04 it's just the kx again.

The KX 100/85cc had power valves from 1999. (at least that is the case in the UK Market, may be different in other countries?)
