my bike runs perfect except for one thing. it wont idle! when im riding around its fine but when im stopped it just wont stay running. i have to keep twisting the throtle to keep it running. it doesnt even allow me enough time to put on my goggles. how do i fix this?

This will sound stupid but have you tried turning your idle screw on the carb?

Does the 04 model have the idle adjust on the choke? Try turing it counter clockwise after its warmed up.

this is mattcunningham795, i just made a new one cuz i forgot my password.

but yeah ive "tried" that kind of but i couldnt get any leverage to loosen the bolt to turn the airscrew because there is stuff in the way. i just kept striping the nut.

what do you mean its not supposed to idle? my 85 didnt just die like that. i could put it into nuetral and just let it run as long as i wanted with out even twisting the throttle. my bike almsot instantly dies. and even sometimes when im riding it, ill come off a jump nose high with the clutch held in and ill tap on the back brakes and when i land it stalls.

i dont know how it is in the us but in the uk 2 stroke mx bikes arnt ment to tick over we even have marshals check that before we ride, its a stupid idea they let the 4stokes

I don't know how your carburator is made but I've always seen carburators with an idle adjust and air or gas adjust. If you want idle, turn the idle adjust clockwise. Again, I am not aware of your type of carburator.

The only reason 2 stroke mx bikes dont have a tick over. Is to provide engine breaking. However the 4 stokes dont need engine breaking, through not having a tick over. Plus the fact if the engine dies it is harder to start for a 4 stoke. If the engine were to die while the bike was in motion like when breaking. It would more likely the rear wheel would lock up than bump while in motion.

yeah, i dont think i need a new clutch cuz the bike is brand new. i got it like 3 weeks ago. it was a brand new 04 that the dealer just couldnt sell i guess. but ive tried everything and it just doesnt seem to work so im just gunna have to live with it. but its not that big of a deal anymore because im starting to ride track again. but thanks for all the help guys.
