got a problem with a 2000 rm250. ran great a week ago and all of a sudden it wont start and the kickstart lever feels a little too easy on the kick. it's getting compression, fuel and spark. everything seems fine. nothing broken off inside. is it possible for the timing to be off a little? how do i check the ignition timing? any help would be great

well...easy to kick, when was your last top end? did you throw a new spark plug in there just in case?

If it's possbile, try to push start it.
If it fires right up and runs good, then your not getting enough compression and you'll probably need to do a top end.

Otherwise, I'd check the little things like a new plug, and clean out the carb.

My son's cr80 cracked a piston across the top, pin hole to pin hole. Same symptoms, alittle easier to kick but not enough compression to fire. Happened all of a sudden.

How does a piston crack like that rpm12505?

I'm pretty sure the stator is not the problem, I would go with what most of the guys are saying.
