ok so i rebuilt the engine on my rmz when to start it it fired then a horrible mechanical sound came from the engine and it jusy stopped dead removed the cam cover and the timing had jumped does anyone know why it did this is it because the valves clearneces are too close so it hit the piston ????

Sounds like you bent some valves. Did you tighten the cam chain to specs?Did you verify that mechanical timing was on before you fired it?

yes everything was setup correctly but i never checked the valve clearence ,the bike just stopped dead as soon as kicked it up and the inlet cam jumped timing

Either your cams were not timed correctly or your cam chain tensioner was not activated. Did you count the timing chain links like they tell you to do in the manual?
