Explanation of my last post SAWCS was more of a spontaneous on my part, thinking out loud brain storming if you may, way to help pay for entry fees in multiple race classes. It was mentioned that the cost of entering multiple classes may be too expensive and prohibit some women from entering if they choose to do so. Something like SAWCS, or what ever it would be called, could provide financial assistance (a reason posted earlier in this thread) that would allow more women to compete and gain recognition of women in the sport. It was posted earlier also that recognition won't come until women are running with the men. Until more women are able to be recognized as competitive with males, I doubt women will ever share the same plateau as men in the eyes of some and that's a shame. It's only because there are so few women riders and considering the ratio there are a lot of fast women. I understand the point and agree that there should be a female class as a means to invite more women into the sport. It's probably no more intimidating for a girl that is racing for the 1st time or still a beginner to be thrown out to the wolves, so to speak, but it's really not that different for a beginner male the 1st few times out. Who knows if a women's class is actually beneficial to the equality of gender in this sport in the long run but my experience in other non-related activities has led me to believe that certain activities tend to attract more of the same gender if they see others like themselves out there too. (Hope that makes sense) There needs to be more involvement of women in dirtbiking before women gain the respect that they deserve. I have no idea how to impliment that and make it more attractive than it is right now to those who don't participate. They don't know what they are missing right? DRN is an awesome support group but you will not gain any significant financial support, or to clarify, the financial support necessary to support the entire dirtbike racing community, therefore SAWCS could be a national group to financially support women in primarily male dominated competitive sports. Kind of like a save the pandas only for female dirtbikers. BTW, the post I wrote previously began without the intent of bringing the like of any of this up, it just kind of came to me as I typed. I would really like to see women do well in anything they choose without any limitations. Most of you know I have a daughter that rides, among other things and I want her to be able to accomplish what ever it is in life she chooses without the hindrance of being a girl.
