I noticed a bit of rust developed on those portions of the frame where paint has been worn away. Any tips on removing the rust without marring the finish of the bare metal? What grit of sand paper? Also, as a preventative, do you folks advocate a coating of WD-40 or Bel Ray 6 in 1?

In my Cr I have removed some rust from footpegs and some bolts with acid. Now after riding I wash my bike with water and MotoWash from Motul then I squeeze footpegs, electrical parts, wheels, spokes, bolts and so on with WD-40 and it seems works great !
I think that I am doing the right thing !

PS Do not squeeze your disk brakes with WD-40.

rust remover

your local hardware store or wal-mart will sell a rust removing jelly, just paint it on and in about 15 minutes the rust will be gone, rinse it down and put a light coating of WD-40 on it. there won't be any scratches on the surface as there would be with sandpaper.
