Screwed up hand... Stupid still hurts!

You all might remember I broke my hand (5th metacarpal) on the last weekend in April. Well, the bone healed, but the scar tissue and soft tissue damage is the problem.

I have had very little range of motion in the joint since it "healed". Well I went to the orthopedic doc today and he was going to "mobilize" it - that is a kind way of saying "he was going to FORCE it to move". :think:

After a series of numbing injections and 2 pain pills he tried to mobilze it. The sucker isn't going to move without a knife.

I have to have surgery on it to get it right. It is gonna take all &$@! year to heal this thing. Injuries SUCK! :|

Jeff, sorry to hear that man, gotta be tough.
Look on the bright side, you look awefully cute with that teacup in your hand, so proper!

Hang in there, it'll just be a memory soon.
BTW, worst case; if nothing else have him put a perm. bend in it.

Just tell him to put the bend in it while your in riding position on the bike! Sorry bout the injury. Didn't you break something in the woods at Dirtweek last year?

I was just thinking the same thing, was that you jeffd?  I'm remembering a broken finger of sorts and this was a couple days after Tony Eeds broke his toes.

Yes, injuries suck!!! :flame:   So heal up quick.

Jeff, you already know, but I have a similar problem with my shoulder. Tried to get away with just physical therapy, which worked to a degree because i was able to lifeguard allsummer and earn the money for a new bike, but it just wasn't right. Had the surgery today and started the long road of a 5-6 month full recovery. Boy, I'm excited. Too bad though dude, and you just got that new bike too. What a bummer. Just do it right, you don't want it screwed up forever ya know.

Yeah that was me with the mashed finger last year. A tree jumped out in front of me as I clicked into 3rd and rolled the gas on. It didn't fracture it, but I have a nice calcium lump from the impact. It healed OK and never stopped me from riding, lol!

This broken metacarpal thing just sucks though. I can't make a fist, so my grip is not all that great and the finger kinda sticks out all the time (TwinSpar - just shutup!)

The basic problem is that I am impatient and the recovery process just takes too long. I am going to schedule the surgery for after Dirt Week - you gotta have your priorities!

Eric - I hope you recover soon! Looks like TORO will be short a couple of racers for a while. I hope we can both make some races this year...

Dude that really sucks, I'm sorry to hear that. I've had a couple of close calls since I started riding with a sprained ankle and an almost sprained wrist...needless to say I am bringing every knee, wrist, and ankle brace I have with me to Dirt Week, just in case!

Good luck with the surgery and recovery.
