Considering picking up a Honda 70 or Kaw 110 or Yamaha 90 for my boy who is a beginner. This is for trail riding and maybe family enduros if he wants to. We already have a Honda 50.

Do you know anything about these bikes pros/cons?

I hear they make a lot of go-fast parts for the KLX-110...

I have been looking for a Hon xr - crf 70. I found a nice one but the guy would never return my calls so I figured he backed out. Everthing else I looked at was over priced junk. How old is your kid Bret?

fwiw.... i have a 7 yr old still on a 50... we have a ttr 90 for her which she fits Height wise, but it seems to have too much motor and feels a little "tippy" for her to feel comfortable on it

That 90 does have a lot of low end grunt thats for sure. It has more than his CRF100 had when I brought it home (thats fixed now though  )

I can only compare from my son when he made the jump from his JR50 to the TTR90. He hit the 90 running and never looked back. I was concerned that it was too big (he was on his toes) and too fast. Not a problem at all. They adapt fast. By the end of the summer he was flat footing it, he had grown that fast. I think I got my kid on the 90 when he was like 6-7 yrs old.

Size, weight, and aggressiveness of the kid is a big factor in choosing the bike that's right for them.

Totaly true...

One thing that is a constant though is that they grow like weeds. Dont get them something that fits them now otherwise they will outgrow it in a year.

Yes thats the guy. I did talk to him and told him that I was interested but I had a deal pending and that if I didn't check out I would call him back. I called him back but got his wife and I let her know to let him know that the deal pending turned out to be junk so I wanted his bike. He was to bring it by Dons Marsh's place for an inspect but didn't show up. I called again and got his wife and she said he would call, but again no call back....So I gave up on it. Just wondering what gives....

FWIW I've got a PW50, KLX110, and TTR125LE None for sale. But this has proven to be an excellent set of bikes to transition in size, speed and complexity. --> no gears, 3 speed with centrifugal clutch, 5 speed with (reg hand) clutch.

My oldest boy is 10, but he is small (only 55# and short for his age) an he is a beginner. He rides the 50 good but it's small and I'd like for him and his younger brother to both have bikes. I like that the Honda 70 is about 15# lighter and I'm not sure he needs the power of the other bikes.
