So I’m running on the treadmill this morning, watching the TV to help the miles go by. I’m not really paying attention to the tube but something gets my attention. There is a hot chick being escorted by police – so she has done something wrong. I pay attention.

Well the story is on Pamela Rogers Turner, the Gym Teacher from Tennessee that had sex with her 13 year-old student. After I stop saying to myself “damn she’s hot” I realize that they are talking about her sentencing. She pleaded “no contest” and got 270 days of which they say she’ll serve about 200 days.

Now, like all men, I’m saying to myself “lucky kid” and “I wish I had her as a teacher”…bla bla bla. But when you stop and think about this for a moment, this woman raped a 13 year-old boy and got 270 days! If the tables were turned and it was a male teacher raping a 13 year old girl, he would have gotten 270 YEARS!

Why the double standard? Does society see this as a lesser crime? Why wasn’t there a teacher like that when I was 13? Opps….I guess I’m still thinking that. Well, she is hot.

She didn't rape him imo. Yes, I know the laws about age of consent, statutory rape and stuff etc. But the facts are they both consented, there was no force involved that I know of. I think this plays a big factor in the court room.

Still, your probably right, if a male teacher had had an affair with a 13yo girl he'd probably get locked away for a long time. Yes its a different standard, but I'm not so sure its such a problem.

BUt then I think about the phycological impact that something like that has on a 13 year old kid. Growing up I had a neighbor kid that I went to boyscout campouts, sleep overs, and birthday parties with. About the time we turned 15 I couldn't stand to be around the kid and he really went off the deep end. Later on in life I found out that he Had been having sex with his sister in law (who I thought was cute) since he was 12! To this day his life is still a mess, he is really screwed up mental and psychologically. :ohmy:

So maybe it is a good thing I never had a teacher like this.

on a side note I do think that there is a double standard in society on this. :uh:

Wow. Please tell me where a 13 year old CHILD (yes, CHILD) has the ability to give consent to anything???

Hell, the age of consent in Kentucky is at the very least 16 years of age.

So by your logic if a 27 yr. old had sex with a 6 yr. old and the 6 yr. old gave "consent" it would not be rape if there was no force involved??? Give me a break!

Not impressed...I know how to use the dictionary too. The point being that a 13 year old CHILD can not give consent. Period. End of story. It is called statutory rape. There is no place in these United Stated (Kentucky included) where a 13 year old can CONSENT to anything.

Just because she didn't tie him up, doesn't mean that she didn't use force. The mind of a 13 year old CHILD is WEAK much like your response using a cut-n-paste dictionary definition.

So if a CHILD consents to an adult's warped and lustful desires, it is somehow not rape? "Oh, sorry judge... The kid said it was OK. So no harm, right?" That is SICK.

Ya know, if the student was 16 or 17 it would still be wrong. Even though someone of that age could give consent (although not legal consent), the teacher is still a person in an authority position. It's just wrong. And the fact that she is a (hot) woman should not change the crime one bit. She is a sexual predator and should serve the same sentence that a male sexual predator would face.

The more I think about this, the more outrageous it becomes. And the more I think about that teacher...

I think this is less common of a social deviation that the more common older male teacher going for the hot young female student. Blame that on social programming of men to like only a certain type of woman.

Equal rights are being demanded by women in this country and rightfully so. As the father to a baby girl I can tell you that I expect that she will be afforded the same rights as a man. I don't want her given special treatment , just the same. But that means it should be the same in all areas, such as punishment for a crime such as this, or something as simple as physical requirements for military, police and firefighters should be the same. But they are not. We live in a society that is PC when it is convenient.
