Over the weekend I toasted the mower deck on my garden tractor. It was the first cut of the year, and over the winter a large root must have worked itself loose. I sucked it up and in the process destroyed my mower deck. The blade shroud was ripped out, all three blades were bent and the bearings were destroyed.

A new deck will cost me over $500. That’s a lot of money for a 10 year old tractor with 1,000 hours on it.

So I looked on the auction site. Lo-and-behold, there is deck there for $75. Problem, the dude doesn’t want to get involved with shipping it. I’ve checked, and it seems as though it would cost $300 or more to ship.

So here is my request. Are there any DRN’ers that can help me get the deck from Detroit to the east coast? It’s a 50” deck (making it about 60” wide) and I’m sure it weighs 75 to 100 pounds. Any ideas (other than spending $2,500+ on a new tractor)?
